Yes, Earth's Ally formulas are proudly Bee Safe. Every Earth’s Ally product is independently tested for bee toxicity and proven safe.
As a vital part of our food supply, we are committed to protecting our pollinators and donate 5% of profits to the Pollinator Partnership, the world’s largest non-profit dedicated exclusively to pollinator conservation, education, and research .
A summary of our independent lab testing is included below. The tests were designed according to EPA standard and are slightly different due to variances in the formulations.
For the 3-in-1 Plant Spray, Insect Control and Disease Control, bees were exposed to increasingly stronger concentrations of our products. The goal of the test is to identify the LC50 or the Lethal Concentration of the product where 50% of the bees are killed. Data is expressed as a % of active ingredients for each product.
3-in-1 Plant Spray:
-
- Active ingredient dilution (Ready-to-use) = .31%.
- The LC50 = 29.081%.
- Interpretation: You would have to use our product at 93 times the labeled dilution rate to harm bees.
Disease Control:
-
- Active ingredient dilution (Ready-to-use) = .02%.
- The LC50 = .545%.
- Interpretation: You would have to use our product at 27 times the labeled dilution rate to harm bees.
Insect Control:
-
- Active ingredient dilution (Ready-to-use) = .55%.
- The LC50 = 16.228%.
- Interpretation: You would have to use our product at 30 times the labeled dilution rate to harm bees.
Weed & Grass Killer Ready-to-Use:
Because the Weed & Grass Killer Ready-to-Use formula cannot be concentrated, the test measured bee mortality over time.
-
- After 48 hours, 0% of bees exposed to water only died.
- After 48 hours, 4% of bees exposed to our Weed & Grass killer died.
- Interpretation: No statistical differences in the mortality observed between the
water control and Earth’s Ally Weed & Grass Killer Ready-to-Use populations. Weed & Grass Killer Ready-to-Use does not harm bees.
Weed & Grass Killer Concentrate:
Because the Weed & Grass Killer Concentrate formula is a powder, the test measured bee mortality at the labelled mix rate and twice the labelled concentration over time.
-
- After 48 hours, 0% of bees exposed to water only died.
- After 48 hours, 0% of bees exposed to our Weed & Grass Killer Concentrate died.
- After 48 hours, 4% of bees exposed to our Weed & Grass Killer Concentrate at twice the labelled dilution rate died.
- Interpretation: No statistical differences in the mortality observed between the
water control and Earth’s Ally Weed & Grass Killer Concentrate populations. Weed & Grass Killer Concentrate does not harm bees.
