Here are some tips & tricks for indoor plants:
- Healthy plants have a natural resistance to both pests and diseases. Plants most commonly develop disease or pest problems when stressed by cultural factors such as too much or too little water or poor soil/nutrition conditions. Adding soil amendments and checking soil moisture regularly will greatly reduce stress thus reducing insect, and disease problems.
- Identify the problem. When possible, bring samples or take pictures of your plant to send to your local Extension Services for help identifying whether it is a disease or pest.
- When treating, be sure to get complete coverage of 3-in-1 Plant Spray on your plants. Cover both upper and lower leaf surfaces as well as stems or any other areas of your plant where pests can hide. Get good coverage and spray until there is runoff. Repeat every 5 to 7 days as needed.
- Place yellow sticky traps near your plants for insect identification and to detect large populations. These are yellow cards treated with a sticky substance that attract insect pests. Yellow is attractive to many insets commonly found in gardens and homes including adult white flies, aphids, fungus gnats and thrips. Place them at or just above plant height.
